Wyndansea name to change

18 December, 2007 · 10 Comments

Local golf course development Wyndansea may be coming into a new name.

Unconfirmed sources at the district office indicate that local developer (and now de facto town owner) Marine Drive Properties may be about to change the name of its gigantic golf course-slash-recreational-housing-for-the-rich development on the edge of town.

It is apparently to be renamed Waitansee, on the heels of rumors that the development is now hanging by a financial thread, with the usual Ukee story of lagging sales, work stoppages and unpaid contractors.

Less optimistic locals are suggesting the name Hopeanpray, lest the project go belly up and become the biggest mudpit eyesore on the coast. Those who have given up on the town entirely recommend the name Wankanoff.

The voluntary renaming comes as a surprise after MDP got its lily-white thong in a twist over Edge FM radio’s infamous Wyndanpee campaign, thus proving the company can’t take a joke.

    Satire or Fear and Self-Loathing?

Gossip is a sign of low intellect.

    Check your sources.

If this Blog is about Satire, why not choose to write Satire? You need another topic tattler!

Try something funny for a change and less personal – what you do is distasteful.

Satire: (noun) the use of ridicule, irony, sarcasm, etc. to expose folly or vice or to lampoon an individual. [Oxford Canadian]

    to visitor one and two,

as a local reading this stuff it seems you are part of the wait&see gang and don’t like what is being written!!!!!I just reviewed one of your ads in the westerly and to me you and your organization are all phoney. The tattler is at least real. Why you ask?, well if you look at the ad, the surfer dude and his location are not from here, the couple in the photo are NOT residents of this area, just phoney models who probably won’t live in this boring little town by choice. the food is not being prepared here, the resort is just a drawing the does not actually depict the real land it’s supposed to sit on , and where the hell did all those trees in the picture come from and my how flat and easily traversed the fore shore rocks look? Even the one hole golf course shown is only that ONE HOLE, located at the edge of one great big denuded hole.

thanks tattler for making the majority of us laugh

What ‘visitor’ (Mr. Duke?) doesn’t realize is that we now live in a world where truth and satire have become virtually indistinguishable. This is a world in which Arnold is Governor and George Junior is President don’t forget, a world where our economy is increasingly driven by unsustainable practices the majority knows will end in tears, yet democracy appears powerless to stop.
Is the amount of money M.D.P. owes people in town real or satirical? What about that Range Rover? Or the giant open-pit mine that the town will inherit if the gamble doesn’t pay off? All for another exclusive golf course development the world so desperately needed. We won’t know whether to laugh or cry then will we? In the minds of a many, what you do is distasteful.

They should change the name of the entire development to “Bankrupsea”. Where is the money Mr. Duke? I guess if the District of Ucluelet waits long enough, the interest that Marine Drive Properties will owe should easily pay for the new community centre. We won’t need to borrow $2 million. Thanks Elke!!!

ya, its sad to hear all these idiots crap on positive, sustainable tourist development. I sure never heard any of these morons complain about the mac blo company when they were in town. Listen, you have to start looking at the big picture. Don’t get me wrong, lets keep a close eye on these guys and yes Elk is wrong in not paying the men that have worked for her projects, but the theme of this blog is sounding like you’d rather have tourists go home and get the town back to logging. Come on, wake up. I think logging and fishing are great but they will only survive as more sustainable smaller family type businesses in the future. Mr. Edwards shake cutting is an example of a sustainable type logging related business. The big companies are hopefully never coming back into town because they suck. Lets not chase tourist development away, thats just not sound business. Think about what you say or type, you are sounding like a bunch of fools.

This message is for the friendly local, I think maybe you should change your name to friendly communists, well thats what you sound like. I know you’re upset about democracy not coming through for you, but I’ll tell you what, at least in a free market promoted by a democratic government a person can work towards accomplishing goals and success. Under the system you may prefer there is much evidence of absolute failure. It doesn’t work. There is no insentive to work hard as all you do is make the government fatter. Don’t bet against democracy and the free market my friendly communist—-you’ll always lose. Hey maybe you could go to China to watch the olympics and then just stay there. Don’t be mad at me, you after all are very up on the world’s modern day tone of satire.
